Having been heavily linked with a move for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal are potentially interested in another of their players in the form of Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Mikel Arteta, of course, knows both players well from their time at the Etihad together.
Zinchenko has been a valuable squad player for City, although by no means a guaranteed starter under Pep Guardiola.
And, although best known as a full-back for his club, the intention is to deploy him in midfield, where he most often plays for his country.
With the Premier League champions among the clubs looking at Brighton’s Marc Cucurella, Zinchenko could see his first-team opportunities further restricted next season and might be tempted to join a club where he will play more regularly.
Like all Ukrainian players he has had to contend with the background knowledge as to what has been happening back in his homeland over the past few months.Hvin
