One of the first orders of business for the club’s new owners when the Chelsea takeover is finally approved is to offer Mason Mount a new contract.
The 23-year-old has just been voted the fans’ Chelsea Player of the Year for the second season running, after a campaign that saw him top the scoring charts with 13 goals in all competitions, He also provided 16 assists.
Despite this, he remains one of the lowest paid members of Thomas Tuchel’s squad at the moment and the club are keen to reward him with a pay package that more fairly represents his value to the team.
It is rumoured that his salary will double to more than £160,000 a week,
Mount is an academy graduate who has spent almost his entire career at Chelsea apart from brief loan spells with Vitesse in Holland and Derby County.
Given his affinity for the club, he is widely believed to be ready to sign the new deal which will be offered to him.
