Best quotes on Luke Shaw

Another promising teenager signed by Manchester United in 2014 for a world record fee for an 18-year-old, Shaw has developed himself into a compact left-back for both club and the England national team. Still around mid-way through his career, we take a look at some of the best quotes on Luke Shaw.

Starting his career as a youth with Southampton FC, interest was already being shown by some of the big Premier League clubs when he was aged just 16.

As the club’s youngest player to start a game in the Premier League, the lure of Manchester United FC came its way in the summer of 2014, and Shaw moved to Old Trafford for a sum of around £30 million. He became a regular in the team from the 2018/19 season.

He represented the England national team for the first time in early 2014, and his proudest moment with the side came in the final of Euro 2020 when he scored the fastest ever goal in the competition’s deciding game, in 1 minute and 56 seconds. England eventually lost the game to Italy on a penalty shoot-out.

Quite remarkable, as Shaw has only scored two league goals in his career in over 200 matches. As a defender, he has been noted for his attacking play, even being compared to another Southampton product Gareth Bale. The former England international Trevor Brooking has even praised his technical ability as the FA’s director of football development.
