Arsenal are in pole position to sign Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey.
The Scottish international has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs in Europe, with Tottenham, Manchester United and Napoli among the clubs interested in signing him.
However, according to reports in Italy, Arsenal are at the head of the queue, with the player himself reported to be keen to make the move.
That is especially true as the Gunners already have good relations with the Serie A club, having signed Japanese right-back Takehiro Tamiysu from them at the start of the season.
Mikel Arteta has previously indicated that he is looking for tactically versatile signings in the transfer window and, although only 19, Hickey fits the bill with his ability to play in several positions.
