Arsenal are ready to offer midfielder Mohamed Elneny a new deal and have opened contract talks.
The 29-year old Egyptian international is out of contract at the Emirates in the summer, and, until a few weeks ago, his time in North London appeared up, as he had barely featured for the team in the Premier League this year.
However, after the season-ending injury to Thomas Partey and the three successive defeats that followed that, he earned a subsequent recall to the side, and has helped restore their hopes of a top four finish.
Elneny knows that, when everybody is fit, and, with new additions expected in the summer, he is unlikely to be first choice at the Emirates next season, but with European football of some sort now guaranteed, he should still get plenty of game time next campaign.
He has previously indicated his willingness to stay with the Gunners if offered the opportunity.
