Roma are set to make a fresh attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer.
The Swiss international captain was on the verge of joining the Serie A club last year only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.
Instead he ended up signing a new three year deal at the Emirates, and has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side this campaign, even if it is felt long-term, they need somebody with greater mobility.
Although he has not always enjoyed the best of relations with Gunners’ fans, he was voted their player of the month for April.
However, Jose Mourinho remains a fan of Xhaka, and is hoping to tempt him to Italy with a long-term deal.
Given, though, that would leave Arsenal with Thomas Partey as their won remaining central midfield player, there would need to be incomings at the Emirates for such a deal to be sanctioned.
