With one German defender set to leave the club in the form of Antonio Rüdiger, who is joining Real Madrid on a free transfer, it seems another one may be joining Chelsea.
That is after news that they have asked to be kept informed about developments with Armenia Bielefeld’s Amos Pieper.
A former under-21 centre-half for Germane, Pieper will become a free agent this summer, and looks like he is a man in demand, with Southampton, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund among the clubs interested in signing him.
Still just 24, Pieper would add some needed youth to Chelsea’s backline.
Chelsea remain long-term admirers of Sevilla’s Jules Koundé, and, if the takeover isa greed in time are expected to go back for him this summer, with indications that the Spanish team may be ready to drop their valuation of him, although what their transfer budget will be this time is still unknown
