Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Sevilla centre-back Jules Koundé after rebuilding the centre of their defence became a summer priority.
Andreas Christensen is already set to join Barcelona, and Thiago Silva is now 37, and cannot be relied on for next season. And now it has been confirmed that Antonio Rüdiger will be leaving the club in the summer as well, having failed to agree terms on a new deal.
The Stamford Bridge side spent much of last summer’s transfer window trying to pursue a deal for Koundé but were unable to persuade the Spanish club to drop their valuation of him. However, with his asking price now having dropped he is once more back on the radar.
Matthijs de Ligt is another option, with reports from Italy suggesting that Juventus may be ready to sell the 22-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, and has never really established himself in Serie A.
