Paul Mitchell is on the shortlist for the role of technical director at Chelsea once the ownership situation in West London has finally been resolved.
The post has not been occupied on a permanent basis since Michael Emanolo left the tole towards the end of 2017, but the remaining bidders all believe that there is a need to have somebody in place to help support the manager
He is currently performing a similar role at AS Monaco, where he has been creditedwith transforming the age, profile and performance of the squad, bring through far more academy graduates and improving the side’s injury record.
Mitchell has two years left on his current contract, and was linked with a move to Newcastle following their takeover, before deciding to stay with the Ligue 1 side.
He has previously worked at MK Dons, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig, joining Monaco in June 2020.
