Arsenal have tabled a bid for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.
That is according to reports in Italy which claim that they have made an offer of £25 million for the player who is currently on loan to Juventus from his parent club Atlético Madrid.
The Serie A signed him on a two-year loan with an option to buy him for £35 million, but he has not impressed in Italy, and Juventus are willing to pay less than half that to acquire him permanently, which is some way off Atlético’s valuation.
He has played in the Premier League before, of course. He was bought by Chelsea for £60 million in 2017, , but, although his goal return was decent – 24 goals in 72 club appearances – he hardly pulled up any trees during his time at Stamford Bridge, and they were willing in the end to loan him to Atlético.
That move was later made permanent.
