Arsenal are competing with Newcastle United and Manchester City for the signature of Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
He has scored nine times for the Ligue 1 side this season and has been attracting attention from across Europe. Newcastle almost signed the player, who is valued at £25 million on transfer deadline day, but, in the end, the move failed to transpire.
Arsenal have been monitoring Ekitike closely as they look to construct a new forward line in the summer, but the news that he is now being considered by Manchester City as well is not welcomed.
They are likely to offer him better terms than he would get form the Gunners, although he may have to balance that with the fact that he would struggle to get many first team opportunities under Pep Guardiola.
Borussia Dortmund, who may be in the market for a replacement for Erling Haaland, are also monitoring the forward’s situation.
