The Ricketts family are stepping up their bid to buy Chelsea.
Having already made the shortlist of preferred bidders, they are also looking to strengthen their hand even further- and dilute the risk involved – by taking on even more investors.
The family have also made steps to try and woo the club’s fans by issuing an eight point pledge, which includes commitments to make no changes to the club’s name, badge, or colour of their home shirts without consulting fans first.
They have also vowed never to join a European Super League.
However, they still face an uphill battle to convince the majority of the supporter base that they are suitable owners for the club. Because of comments made by patriarch Joe, owner of the MLB franchise the Chicago Cubs, which were anti-Muslin in tone and sentiment.
Joe is not involved in the bid, and the family have sought to distance himself from the view he expressed.
