Barcelona have all but confirmed they have signed Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
On Tuesday, speaking to a local radio station, Barcelona president Juan Laporta said that they had completed two summer signings already – “one of them is a midfielder, the other is a central defender.”
Although he said that he was not allowed to mention their names, numerous sources stated that the midfielder in question was Franck Kessie, currently with AC Milan and the defender Christensen.
Both are out of contract with their respective clubs at the end of the season.
It means that Chelsea’s hopes of hanging out to the Dane are now officially over, after talks about extending his stay in West London stalled, although the ahs fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel recently.
The signings continue Barcelona’s recent policy of going after free transfers as they continue to struggle with their mountain of debt.
