Arsenal are leading the race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.
The 22-year old has attracted interest from a host of top clubs in Europe after scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists in 37 appearances for the Eredivisie side this season.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have all been monitoring developments after the Dutch club indicated they were willing to listen to offers for the £42 million rated player in the summer.
But now, it is claimed that the Gunners have emerged as the favourites to sign him, having been previously linked with a move for him during the January transfer window.
PSV forestalled that by getting him to sign a new contract until 2026, but they are realistic enough to admit that Gakpo will eventually leave them, because he is destined to play for a top club in one of the top leagues in Europe.
Gakpo made his debut for the Dutch national side at the Euros last summer, but was forced to sit out the recent round of friendlies after picking up a knock.
