Liverpool are considering making a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has come to prominence this season on loan at Crystal Palace.
He has scored eight goals and provided five assists for Patrick Vieira’s side and helped them reach the FA Cup semi-finals, where they have been drawn against his parent club (FA rules mean that he will not be permitted to play in that match).
His form has been so good that he has forced his way into Gareth’ Southgate’s England squad and must now be in with a realistic chance of being on the plane to Qatar later this year.
Palace would like to make his loan permanent, but his stock has risen so far in his time with them that he may not be out of their financial reach.
One impediment to Liverpool’s intentions though is Thomas Tuchel – if the club are even allowed to make transfers in the summer, he may seek to block it because he does not want to see a potential title rival strengthened.
