Arteta replacement story branded fake news

A story which appeared in the Brazilian media claiming national team manager Tite would be leaving his post after the 2022 World Cup to take over from Mikel Arteta at Arsenal has been branded as “fake news.”

Tite has apologised to Arsenal and insisted that the story had not originated from him or his camp.

The 60-year old has a close relationship with Gunners’ technical director, having previously collaborated when Edu held a similar role with national team before taking up his current role with the Gunners.

However, in this case, it appears to be a journalist adding two and two together and making five.

All the indications coming out of the Emirates are that Arteta is likely to be offered a new long-term deal in the summer on improved terms, whether or not the club qualifies for the Champions League, because the owners are happy with the direction of travel under the Spaniard.
