Roma are still determined to sign Granit Xhaka, and are ready to make another approach for the Arsenal midfielder at the end of the season.
The Swiss international captain was heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side last summer, only for the move to fall through, and he signed a new long-term deal with the Gunners.
However, they continue to monitor his situation and are hopeful of engineering a deal for this time, with all the indications being that Mikel Arteta is seeking an upgrade kin his position, and wants somebody who is more mobile.
However, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who left Arsenal for Roma on loan in January, is seemingly heading back to the Emirates at the end of the campaign. His loan deal includes no option to buy, and, having failed to impress during his time in Italy, he will become a Gunner again in the summer, although for how long remains to be seen.
