Arsenal are hoping to complete the sale of Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira before Easter.
He has been on loan in Italy with Fiorentina since the start of the season and, at one stage, it was hoped that he might forma makeweight in a deal for striker Dusan Vlahovic.
That was ended when Vlahovic joined Juventus instead, but, that does not mean a deal for Torreira is off the table, with Fiorentina wanting to keep the player who is reported to be happy in Italy.
A fee of around £13 million has been agreed for the midfielder, who also spent last season on loan, with less success, at Atlético Madrid.
Torreira, despite a bright start, never really settled in London, especially after Unai Emery was replaced by Mikel Arteta.
He remains under contract at the Emirates until June 2023, but it now seems that his Gunners career will officially be over in a matter of weeks.
