Arsenal are reported to be favourites to land Lille forward Jonathan David in the summer.
The Canadian international has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 side this season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.
However, he has indicated that he wants to leave the club this summer, with interest across Europe, with Newcastle United amongst those tracking his situation.
But it is the Gunners, who are in desperate need of more firepower, who are currently leading the race for him, especially as, at a fee of around £38 million, David is a cheaper option than some of the alternatives like Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Gunners know they can prove ab attractive proposition to potential recruits if they can once again offer them European football next season, something they have missed out on in this campaign.
