Any talks about a contract extension for Alexander Lacazette at Arsenal have been put on hold until the end poof the season.
The 30-year old French striker is into the last few months of his current deal at the Emirates, and there have been reports linking him with summer moves to Lyon and long-term admirers Atlético Madrid.
The Ginners are virtually certain to try and sign a proven goalscorer in the summer – Lacazette has only managed three in the league this season – but he is still greatly admired by Mikel Arteta for his work rate and commitment. He also has a big influence in the dressing room, especially among the younger players, having stepped up a s captain following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
That has led to a growing feeling that he could be worth offering a contract extension because of the experience that he offers what is still a young team.
