Chelsea face a decision over the future of midfielder N’Golo Kanté in the summer.
The French midfielder will be entering the final year of his current contract in duly, and long-term admirer PSG are thought to be weighing up a bid for him.
Now the Premier League have to decide whether to sell him – or risk losing him for free a year after that – or try and tie him down to a new long-term contract.
They know, that to do so, Kanté will be looking for a multi-year deal, which will bring about a conflict with the club’s policy of only offering one year extensions to players aged over 30.
Kanté turns 31 on March 39th.
It is a similar situation they face with club captain César Azpilicueta, who wants a longer deal to stay in West London, and with a competing offer already on the table from Barcelona.
The World Cup winner has endured his fair share of injuries over the past few seasons but, when fit, he is still one of the first names on the team sheet for Thomas Tuchel.
