Arsenal eyeing Barcelona free transfer

Arsenal and Barcelona could be set to do more transfer business in the summer.

The Catalans have recently done a deal with the Gunners to take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off their hands – although he left the Emirates on a free transfer, the North London club will continue to pay part of his salary until the end of the season.

And now it looks like there may be a player set to come the other way in the shape of experienced midfielder, Sergi Roberto.

The 30-year old midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and talks of a new deal have been put on hold, with other players considered a priority.

And that may give the Gunners the opportunity to step in, with his contractual situation meaning that he is now free to negotiate with clubs from abroad.

Roberto is versatile, and, whilst he can play at right back, it is his more natura central attacking midfield role that he excels, one of the priority areas for Mikel Arteta in the summer.
