The reasons why talks between Chelsea and Andreas Christensen have stalled have been revealed.
The Danish international is in the remaining five months of his contract at Stamford Bridge ,meaning he can leave for free in the summer.
Chelsea want him to stay and several times it seems that the two sides have been close to a new deal, only for talks to break down again.
Now it seems that the stumbling block has been that Christensen’s father, who represents him, has demanded the club offer his sum a renewal premium to be paid in one lump sum.
That demand has not gone down well with the Chelsea hierarchy, who are not used to such demands, ad do not feel that Christensen is a sufficiently important player in their squad to warrant such treatment.
And now Barcelona have been alerted to his potential availability, although they too may be struggling to meet his demands.
