Roma will make another attempt to sign Granit Xhaka at the end of the season.
The Swiss midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Serie A club last summer and, at one stage, seemed on the verge of joining for them. Instead, he decided to stay with Arsenal and signed a new long-term deal with them.
However, Jose Mourinho remains a long-term admirer of the Swiss international captain, and the player himself is open to the idea if a suitable deal can be thrashed out.
The Portuguese believes that Xhaka has the mental toughness that his side currently lacks.
The two clubs are already connected, with utility player Ainsley Maitland-Niles already on loan in the Italian capital. There has been speculation that the arrangement could be converted into a permanent deal at the end of the season.
