Chelsea have made an approach for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
The Uruguayan international is under contract at the Nou Camp until 2023, but talks about a new deal have stalled, with the player’s representatives believing that the terms on offer are not indicative of his status in the squad.
And with the West London club ready to pay him double what Barcelona have currently offered; he is reported to be in favour of a move to West London.
Thomas Tuchel’s side, faced with the loss of key players who are out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, have made strengthening central defence one of their summer priorities.
It is believed that Araujo has all the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League – he is a strong tacker, good in the air. and with a fine passing ability.
He can also score his fair share of goals.
