Chelsea are set to compete with Manchester United to sign young Blackburn defender Ashley Phillips.
The 16-year old has yet to make his debut for the senior team for the Championship high fliers, but is already a regular for their under-21 team, and has attracted attention from a lot of Premier League scouts.
Some have tipped him as a future England player, whilst Blackburn rate him as their finest young prospect since Phil Jones burst on to the scene with them.
Comfortable with both feet, he is quick and tall – he is already 6ft4 and expected to add several more inches in the coming years.
Blackburn, realise they have got a potentially valuable asset and want to tie him down to a long-term contract, but the Premier League duo may be ready to firm up their interest in the teenager and acquire him before his price tag goes up even further.
