West Ham are interested in signing Arsenal defender Kostas Mavropanos in the summer.
The Greek international is currently on loan with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, where he has been in impressive form this season. In 17 league matches this season, he has averaged 1.9 tackles, 2.3 interception and 5.5 clearances per match, and has also weighed in with four goals.
In addition, he has won 2.8 aerial duels on average per game.
The Germans have an option to sign him at the end of the season for just £2.5 million, which it seems they are almost certain to do.
They then might be tempted to sell him on again at a massive profit, with suggestions that West Ham might have to pay up to £21 million to acquire his services.
And, if that happens, Arsenal’s Director of Football Edu and those involved in the club’s transfer business may have some more embarrassing questions to answer.
