It has been reported that Arsenal are planning for a record summer in terms of transfer business, with the club prepared to spend up to £180 million.
Two strikers and one central midfield player will be high on the shopping list, with Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Ruben Neves among the names on their wish list.
Cynics though may flag up the timing of the news as suspicious and an attempt to appease a fan base who are generally incensed about the club’s lack of incoming transfer business in January.
It was widely assumed that the club would be going into the market to strengthen their push for a top four finish, but, instead, they thinned out their squad, with six senior players allowed to either go out on loan or leave permanently.
And with just two senior strikers left, Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, who have three league goals between them this season, and are both out of contract in June, the club seem to have left themselves very short for remains of the season.
