With key players set to leave when their contracts expire in the summer, defensive reinforcements are likely to be the priority for Chelsea when the summer transfer window opens.
And one man they are reported to be interested in is AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli.
The 27-year has made more than 240 appearances for Milan since signing for them in 2015, but he too is out of contract in the summer, and talks over a new deal have yet to bear fruition.
He ahs 12 caps for the Italian national side, and is known for his ability out of possession, although he is not the quickest, which could be a problem given the pace of the Premier League.
His leadership qualities may, however, make up for that, especially given some of the influential voices in their backline the Blues seem set to lose before the start of next season.
