Chelsea’s long chase to sign Sevilla defender Jules Koundé looks like it might finally be reaching fruition.
The West London club spent the entire summer being linked with a move for the French international but no deal was done in the end because the Spanish club refused to budge on their valuation of him.
Despite that they have continued to monitor Koundé’s situation this season, although reports suggested that Liverpool might pip them to the post earlier in the window.
Now though, with the futures of Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen and César Azpilicueta at Stamford Bridge all in considerable doubts because of their contractual situations, Chelsea may be close to finally getting their man.
Now it is hoped that all the remaining obstacles in the way of the deal can be cleared in the next few days so that he can be signed before next Monday’s deadline when the transfer window closes once more.
