Newcastle in Leno loan talks

Newcastle are interested in a loan deal for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The German international has been relegated to the role of understudy at the Emirates since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale at the club, and is now limited to the occasional cup-tie, with Ramsdale even getting the nod over him for the Carabao Cup semi-finals ties against Liverpool.

With 18 months left on his current contract, he is keen to move on to secure first team football somewhere which will boost his chances of featuring in Germany’s World Cup plans later this year.

The North-East club have had conversations about a  loan deal with an option to buy, although that may be dependent on them securing premier League survival at the end of the season.

The fact that Arsenal are reported to have made a bid for USA international Matt Turner may be an indication that they have already lined-up a replacement and may be prepared to let him go.
