Chelsea have made a bid of É33 million for Barcelona defender Frenkie de Jong.
That is according to reports in Spain which claim that the Catalans are considering the off, although it falls short of their É50 million valuation of the player.
Indications are that a revised offer of £2 million may be enough to secure the services of the Dutchman who is also being tracked by Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
IN 2019 Barcelona paid Ajax close to £ 63 million for the player, but he has failed to justify that fee during his time in Spain, and they may be ready to cut their losses amidst their continuing struggles to raise funds.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have long been linked with another defender currently playing in La Liga, Jules Koundé of Sevilla, but with them reluctant to meet his release clause, and with suggestions that he could move to Liverpool instead, de Jong could be a more affordable alternative.
