Borussia Dortmund want to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.
The Dane is in the final year of his current contract at Stamford Bridge, and although there have been reports that a new deal has been offered to him, negotiations appear to have stalled over the terms on offer.
And, whilst nothing has yet been sealed, that means that he is now free to talk to clubs from abroad and even sign a pre-contract agreement with them.
He ahs been with Chelsea since he was 15, but does have previous experience of German football, having spent two seasons on loan with Borussia Mönchengladbach, making 82 appearances and scoring 7 goals for them.
A peripheral figure under Frank Lampard, he enjoyed an upturn of fortunes once Thomas Tuchel succeeded him as manager, and was part of the squad that won the Champions League last May.
He has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
