Roma are still interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The Swiss international seemed on the verge of joining the Serie A club in the summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute, and, instead, he signed a new long-term deal at the Emirates.
However, Jose Mourinho has not given up hope and may be ready to reignite his interest in the 29-year old.
Last week, Roma agreed a deal to take Xhaka’s Arsenal team mate Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan until the end of the season, although there is no option to buy in that deal. Maitland-Niles made his debut in the defeat to Juventus on Sunday, as Roma became the first man in the history of Serie A to have three Englishmen in their starting line-up, with the team also featuring Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham.
Xhaka is under contract at the Emirates until June 2024.
He picked up the fifth red card of his Arsenal career in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Thursday night.
