Gilmour back with Chelsea

Billy Gilmour is back with Chelsea.

The Scottish midfielder has returned to his parent club from Premier League strugglers Norwich City, where he has been on a season-long loan, for treatment on an ankle injury.

The 20-year old could be side-lined for up to four weeks, and Chelsea have not yet decided what to do with him after that, given his lack of regular football in East Anglia.

Gilmour barely featured under Daniel Farke, although he has been used far more regularly by his successor Dean Smith. He has been subject to abuse from a section of the Norwich fan base, although this is reported to be a minority.

The terms of his loan are thought to preclude him being recalled by Chelsea for the second half of the season, even if there was room in the squad. However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility tat some accommodation is reached allowing him to join another club on loan.
