Arsenal are in advanced talks with Juventus over a loan deal for their midfielder Arthur Mélo.
Midfield has been identified as a priority area that needs strengthening by Mikel Arteta, and the club has been linked with a host of players, although interest in Bruno Guimaraes of Lyon has cooled with the Ligue 1 side demanding a £37.4 million fee for him.
Arthur, who is 25, is on the periphery of things with Juventus, having started just three games for them all season.
Indications from Italy are that Arthur is keen on the move, but Juventus would prefer to have a replacement lined-up before they sanction the move.
The player is currently under contract until 2025, and the deal is not thought to include an option to buy.
Melo has played 21 times for the senior Brazilian national squad, the last of those caps coming two years ago when he scored his only international goal in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.
