Chelsea could be about to suffer a major blow in the transfer market with news that Liverpool are set to make a move for long-term target Jules Koundé.
The Stamford Bridge side were heavily linked throughout the summer with a move for the French international but, in the end, no deal materialised because his current club Sevilla, refused to compromise on his valuation.
Despite that, the West London club have continued to monitor the central defender – who has also played right-back for the French national team – and there was a confidence that, sooner or later, he would become a Chelsea player.
It has, therefore, come as something of a shock to learn that they are set to be beaten to the punch by their Premier League rivals, with Liverpool prepared to meet his £68 million release clause.
Koundé is reported to be keen on the move and is ready to make the move to Anfield.
