Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal.
The Gunners remain in the market for a holding midfielder, and have been linked with a host of names, including Renato Sanches and Denis Zakaria of Borussia Monchengladbach.
However, now former Manchester City player Luiz has been added to their wish list, with Mikel Arteta reported to be an admirer of him.
Luiz is valued at £15 million, but the chances of Villa wanting to sell him in January may be considered slim, given that they would need to find a replacement for him, which may be a tall order in the current market.
23-year-old Luiz was signed by City as a teenager form Vaso de Gama but never played a game for them, but instead was sent out on loan to their sister club in Girona, Spain, due to work permit issues.
He joined Villa in 2019 and has since made 75 appearances for them, scoring three times.
