Chelsea have expanded their search for a new left-back following the news that Ben Chilwell may require surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
One man who has been added to their potential shortlist of French international Theo Hernandez, who is currently playing for AC Milan, although the Serie A side have indicated they will not listen to offers of less than #50 million for the 24-year-old.
That is in addition to Everton’s Lucas Digne, who is available having fallen out with manager Ra Benitez at Goodison Park, and who is available for a January transfer.
One problem they have attracting quality candidates is who gets the left-back spot once Chigwell is returned to full fitness again.
Marcos Alonso has been deputising in Chilwell’s absence, but he is thought to lack defensive soundness to be the long-term solution to the problem.
