Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a deal for former Chelsea full back Tariq Lamptey.
Having played just a handful of times for the Blues, he was sold top Brighton for just £3 million, but has since become an established star on the South Coast, although his progress was halted by a hamstring injury which side-lined him for almost nine months.
He has now recovered and is once more on the radar of the Gunners, who have been tracking him since his time at Stamford Bridge.
Brighton are happy to sell him for the right price because it is the policy of the club to sell players to higher status clubs if the right offer is made, as was the case with Ben White who they sold to the North London club in the summer for £50 million.
Although Takehiro Tomayasu has excelled in the right-back role since his arrival from Bologna, there is the need for healthy competition in the position.
