Alexander Lacazette has been offered a 12-month contract extension by Arsenal.
The 30-year-old Frenchmen is ion the final year of his current deal at the Emirates, and has been linked with a move to several foreign clubs in the summer, when he will be a free agent.
He began the season out of favour, but has worked his way back into the team, and has assumed the captaincy after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of it for disciplinary reasons.
However, at this stage of his career, he is reported to be not interested in such a short-term deal and will continue to look elsewhere at offers that guarantee him more security.
With doubts over whether the Gabonese will ever play for the Gunners again, and Eddie Nketiah also in the final year of his own deal, the offer to Lacazette is an attempt to ward off a looming striker shortage on the summer.
