Chelsea are closing on a dealt to sign midfielder Aurelién Tchouaméni next month.
They have been tracking the Monaco player for some time, and were close to making a move for him in the summer, but with a view to loaning him back to the French club so that he could develop further.
However, with his emergence as a fully-fledged French international, they have decided that now be the time to bring him to Stamford Bridge, especially given the recent injury problems that they have had in the midfield area.
A fee of £65 million has been mentioned for Tchouaméni, which would represent a considerable profit for Monaco who only paid Bordeaux £16 million for the defensive midfielder in January 2020.
Real Mad5rid and Manchester United are among the other clubs who have been linked with him, but West London remains his most likely destination.
