Chelsea are looking to bolster their midfield by signing Ruben Neves from Wolves in January.
Thomas Tuchel’s side has seen his midfield reduced to its bare bones recently with injuries to N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovacić, and Jorginho, whilst Saúl Ñiguez, who was brought in on loan from Atlético Madrid to supplement them has failed to adjust to life in the Premier League and may be sent back to Spain.
The German believes that Neves would provide a better back-up to the alternatives currently at his disposal.
Neves has previously been linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United, but, in the end, moves failed to materialise and he ended up staying at Molineux.
He has two and a half years left on hs current deal and Wolves are likely to demand £38 million for his services.
Tuchel had a chance to view Neves in the flesh as the two sides played out a goalless draw in the Premier League on Sunday.
