Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s Arsenal future is once again in doubt.
In the summer of 2020 he signed a new three year deal with the club, becoming the highest paid player at the Emirates. However, e then proceeded to have his worse campaign since arriving in North London, with just 15 goals in all competitions.
And that disappointing form has continued into this season, with the Gabonese guilty of some glaring misses in recent months.
At the same time, there have been several disciplinary issues. He was left out of the North London derby last season after arriving late for the team bus, and was also dropped from the side to face Southampton on Saturday after returning late from a trip abroad.
That is likely to result in him losing the captaincy and may also prompt Arsenal to step up efforts to move him on, conscious that, with his ability to score goals apparently on the wane, he may fast be approaching his sell-by date.
