Chelsea are set to complete their first move of rhea January transfer window, with news that the move for Hungarian centre back Attila Szalai is as good as done.
That is according to Szalia’s international boss Marco Rossi, who is close to the player currently playing for Fenerbahçe in Turkey.
The 23-year old has not even been with the Super Lig club for a year, but his performances for his country in the Euros caught the eye of many teams across Europe, and Chelsea have been tracking him ever since.
With four of his regular defenders, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rüdiger and Cesar Azpilicueta all in the final years of their current contracts at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel wanted to leave nothing to chance and has acted early to bring in reinforcements.
The West London side continue also to be linked with Jules Koundé of Sevilla but, in the short term, Szalai is both cheaper and easier to get.
