Chelsea now appear to be in pole position to sign Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni.
That is after their main competition to sign the French international, Juventus, pulled out of the race to acquire his services, citing cost grounds. Real Madrid remain interested in him as well, but it looks increasingly likely that he will be London bound, with his current club having previously admitted they are ready to sell him.
Now the Premier League winners may move for him as early as January, although there have been suggestions they would be willing to loan him back to Monaco for the rest of the season.
Tchouameni only joined the Monegasque side in January 29020 from boyhood club Toulouse, but the 20-year old has really built hs reputation with them as one of the finest young central midfielders in Europe.
His form has been so good that he has forced his way into the French national side and has already won seven senior caps under Didier Deschamps.
