Pablo Mari is considering a return to Brazilian side Flamengo, the team that he left in order to join Arsenal.
The Spanish defender is reported to be unhappy with his current role in North London where he is consigned to the bench for most of the time. Mari made two Premier League starts at the start of the season in the defeats to Brentford and Chelsea, but, since then, the pair of Ben White and Gabriel have cemented their place in Mikel Arteta’s team.
Flamengo are keen to take him back, although at this stage they would prefer a loan rather than a permanent move, and the wages that he earns with the Premier League side would also be a problem, as they are beyond the budget of the Rio-based team.
He joined the Gunners initially on loan almost two years ago, before the move was made permanent in the summer of 2020 for £14 million.
