Arsenal may be about to do a U-turn and offer Alexander Lacazette a lucrative new deal to stay at the Emirates.
The 30-year old is in the final year of his current contract at the Emirates and it was widely assumed that he would be allowed to leave so as to make room for a younger talent. There had even been suggestions that he could be sold in January, although with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to miss a number of important matches at the AFCON, that always seemed unlikely.
Mikel Arteta has previously said that, whilst he values the player, any talks about a new deal will only take place at the end of the season.
The reason for the change of mind is largely due to the fact that he has an excellent personal relationship with Aubameyang, and he is also a leader in the dressing room and somebody that the young players at the club look up to as an example.
