Chelsea have made contact with Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana as uncertainty over the future or Antonio Rüdiger continues.
The West London side were interested in the 20 year old, before he was injured in a pre-season game with Villareal, suffering ankle ligament damage and a fractured fibula. He is now on the comeback trail and hopes to be back playing shortly.
The French under-21 international was signed from Saint-Étienne last year for a fee of £36.5 million and was a revelation in his first season with the Foxes, helping them win the FA Cup and being named their Young Player of the Year.
He is under contract until 2025 and Leicester would only consider selling him for a considerable premium over what they paid for him.
And Chelsea are not the only club interested in the defender either, with Manchester United also looking at him, as they look to solve their own defensive issues.
