Everton are considering trying to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers in the January window.
Rafael Benitez wants a new right-back, with Seamus Coleman heading to the veteran stage of his career, and increasingly injury prone.
The Goodison Park side were linked with a move for Chambers’ current team mate Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the summer, but that fell through when the Gunners declined to let him leave.
They are still interested in him, but, if they cannot sign him, are prepared to turn their attention to Chambers instead, who could be available for around £5 million.
He began the season in Mikel Arteta’s side, but the signing of Japanese full-back Tomiyasu Takehiro has pushed him down the pecking order at the Emirates.
Chambers joined the North London side from Southampton in 2014, and has played 74 times for them in all competitions, although he ahs had two loan spells away from the club, at Middlesbrough and Fulham.
